One of my favorite things about being a mom is that I suddenly feel like I have a reason to shop at Costco. Not that single people or even couples can’t use the massive amounts of toilet paper or tooth brushes that you can purchase but there is something about saying I’m a mom and I love Costco that makes more sense. So I do, I shop the heck out of Costco, stocking up on snacks, fresh produce and anything that might jump into my cart while I’m there. Now that I feel I am a seasoned Costco shopper I have a few tips for shopping at Costco that I think you will enjoy.
- Make a plan, it’s easy to purchase items you use every day but may not use quickly enough for a bulk amount. Keep in mind menu planning and what items can be
- Shop during the week, 3-5pm is best. Early mornings and weekends are super busy and can be hard to navigate through the aisles.
- Stock up on organic produce. If you’re worried you can’t eat it before it goes bad, you can always freeze it for smoothies or make jams.
- Don’t go while you’re hungry, there will be tons of samples and you’ll end up buying 1 of everything you taste.
- If you do go shopping hungry, their cafe is amazing. We recommend in the $1.50 hot dogs.
- Check out their great deals on baby items such as diapers, wipes and formula.
- Download the app Favado. You can see the prices of almost everything in store and all their promotions going on for the month. This will help you to come out spending almost the exact amount you plan too.
- Paper and cleaning supplies by Kirkland are a great price and awesome quality (store brand).
- Some items can be purchased online without a membership.
- Know someone with a Costco membership? Ask them to buy you a Costco Cash Card (gift cards for Costco) and shop the store without a membership.
- Items with an asterisk** are discontinued, so stock up now.
- Great deals on gifts cards (up to 20% off) for everything from movie tickets, Disney and Siz Flags to your favorite restaurants.
- Eye exams are $49, cheapest around!
- They accept limited payment options so come prepared. Costco cash cards, Debit cards, Cash and the only credit card is American Express.
- Your prescriptions can be filled and then mailed to you. No need to make a trip to the store for pick up.
