With the cooler weather of Fall finally in the forecast, everyone is ready to spend more time outside playing. With the cooler weather also comes more rainy days. We welcome those rainy days with open arms, but still, want to get out of the house and have some fun. I like to keep a running list of rainy day activities so that it’s easy to plan. We, of course, have a few favorites and those tend to be our go to (sometimes even when it isn’t raining). Here are 3 ways to get your kids out of the house on a rainy day and have fun!

Visit a Museum or Learning Center

We live in a big city and there are museums of all types. Which makes it easy for us to change up where we go and what we spend the day learning about. We have a beautiful art museum and as an added bonus one day a week it has free entry! You can’t go wrong with your local children’s museum which will be packed with imaginative play and hands-on activities for even the youngest learners. Nature learning centers most often will have an indoor area that will be great to explore on a rainy day.

Local Library

The library is one of our weekly outings but there is something special about a rainy day spent amongst the stacks of books. Our central library is amazing and even has a reading patio that is covered and can be used when the weather isn’t sunny. Most libraries offer story times or have a dedicated area for children’s toys or crafting. Make sure you pick out a few good reads while you’re there.
