One of my biggest struggles on school days is packing a lunch. I have a seriously picky and slow grazer. With only 15 minutes for lunch time I try and make sure that he has a lunch that he really likes and will focus on eating in that time and not just talk and try to play. So we hit the store and I try and let him pick out a few things that he thinks he likes. I of course make a lot of suggestions as well. Here are our back to school best bites ideas for a fun and successful lunch time.
Since we only go to school 2 days a week its important that we have great options for the days we eat lunch at home. I personally have never been a huge fan of potatoes and I don’t cook them at home. I am loving these Green Giant’s Veggie Tots. They are an family-friendly alternative to potato tots and French fries that the entire family will enjoy. They are filled with broccoli or cauliflower. The best part is they’re an easy and fun way to get children to
eat more veggies. Get your $1 off coupon here to try them out for yourself.
For the days we are packing a lunch PBJamwichs are a mess free crustless sandwich that even adults will love. They come in both strawberry and grape jelly options and are individually wrapped for easy lunch packing! After all who doesn’t love PB&Js?! Check out their Facebook page for current location availability.
One of our favorite things to “cook” together are muffins. ENTENMANN’S® Little Bites® Chocolate Chip Muffins are perfect for a baked snack in the lunch box. There are 10 different flavors and even better than that, each package has less than 200 calories.
We stick with mainly milk and water for JDub but on occasion he will ask for juice. Even in these moments we want to find an option for him that isn’t full of bad stuff. Fruit Shoot drink are made with real fruit juice from concentrate and lots of water, and no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors.
I know I am not alone in this, but seriously am I the only one who tries to sneak veggies into their kids? I am all about delicious foods that will also supply my child some semblance of veggies. For school days I like to include Sensible Portions® Garden Veggie Straws in Zesty Ranch flavor (also available in Sea Salt). I feel like these are a great alternative to chips. They are made with delicious, wholesome, non-GMO ingredients. BONUS they are gluten free and contain no artificial flavors or preservatives. This is a big deal to moms!
As soon as JDub gets in the car after school he immediately asks me for something to eat. This has always been a time where a sweet treat was an option, because what kid doesn’t like sweets? He loves gummies and sour so the Sour Punch® brand has always offered us some good options. They just introduced the better for you
version of their popular Rainbow Straws. You wont feel like your sacrificed taste, but know that now they are made with natural colors and natural strawberry, lemon, apple and tangerine flavors; and NO High Fructose Corn Syrup. This is an easy one for me because I can order them on Amazon!
With the earlier than usual mornings I sometimes struggle to make sure and grab something healthy for me as we rush out the door with arms full. I’d been looking for a “bar” that I could have in the pantry and not feel guilty about grabbing it on the go. RXBARs whole food protein bars are made with clean, simple ingredients: egg whites, fruits, and nuts. Which makes me have no guilty about them! Each bar is dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and contains
absolutely no added sugars. Their branding is awesome because all of the ingredients are right there on the front of the package! Use the code Babbleboxx15 their site for 15% off your first order.
I would love to know your go to lunch options for school lunches so let me know in the comments.
