Back to School with Braces

This is a This Summer I changed up my look a little. No, I didn’t get a new hair cut or new glasses. I got BRACES, or more precisely Invisalign®. I wore braces forever as a kid (4 years) but was a typical teen and didn’t wear my retainer. The retainer is very important if you want those amazing results to last! I’ve had a little bit of movement over the past few years (19) since getting my traditional braces off. I decided that Invisalign®  was a great option for correcting the issues I was having and not having traditional braces. It took me awhile to make the decision which way to go. I’m really happy with the process so far and am loving my new orthodontist. Their tech’s even entertained JDub when he had to tag along to my last appointment. Talk about amazing customer service!

Since Summer is coming to an end and school will be starting in just a few weeks. Here is everything you need for going back to school with braces.

Toothbrush: Remember it is best to brush after every meal to make sure there is no food left on your teeth. This is important to prevent tooth decay.

Floss: Another important task after each meal. While it may not be fun to do at school, it is important to promote healthy gums and prevent tooth decay.

Dental brushes: These tiny brushes are awesome for getting into tight areas when floss isn’t handy.

Wax: Yikes! No one wants to worry about a loose wire or bracket rubbing the inside of your mouth. Wax can be used to protect sensitive areas of your mouth.

Toothpaste: You’re going to need this for all that brushing. A fun flavor is just a bonus.

Rubberbands: If you are wearing rubber bands, make sure that you have plenty on hand in case one breaks.

Case: If you are wearing Invisalign® or have a retainer, a case will prevent give you a place to store your appliance and avoid throwing it away.

Great tips! I really don’t know much about brace care, but my kids are nearing the age that they might need them.

I never had braces as a kid, I would definitely do invisalign if I needed to get braces.

My son has traditional braces on, but he gets them off next month (finally!). These are all great tips! I sort of wish we would have researched more into Invisalign before getting the traditional braces put on his teeth.
