Working out since becoming a mom has been challenging. Not only because I am juggling a little one and trying to find the time, but also because I feel like my fitness needs have changed. For the past 2 years I have been doing the same workout routine as before I was pregnant and during my pregnancy. It consists of a lot of walk/jogging, stretching and occasionally the elliptical. That was it! No wonder I was bored with it and didn’t feel like there was anything changing for my physically.
A few months ago I was introduced to Tribe Austin, an all woman’s fitness studio with a focus on prenatal and postnatal fitness. I’ve attended almost every class that they offer and I’ve decided that I really do have a favorite. I am in love with barre class! I remember seeing barre classes advertised and totally associated it with tall, willowy women in leotards. I will tell you right now that this class is amazing. Not only is it great for all woman, its amazing for the postnatal body. I love the challenge it gives me, making me push myself a little bit past my comfort zone every time. I love going home and telling The Mister that my legs are killer sore from my amazing barre class workout earlier today. At Tribe Austin, children that are not walking attend classes with their mom. I love when we all step up to the barre and several of the women in line are wearing their sweet babies will taking care of their bodies through fitness. That is what Tribe Austin is all about, building a community of woman that are wellness minded and support each other will healing their bodies. Now if I can just get one of them to share their baby with me!
