Soon it’ll be time to alarm clocks, school buses and rushing out the door to get to the drop off line. Yep, that’s right it’s almost time for Back to School and all that it entails. I am a creature of habit, I eat the same thing for breakfast everyday for weeks at a time, just to change it up and continue in my cycle of weeks again. Right now I am enjoying Quaker Oatmeal each morning. I LOVE instant oatmeal, my favorites are Peaches & Cream and Maple & Brown Sugar.
Sometimes mornings are rushed and there isn’t time for a hot breakfast for everyone. The kids would love to be able to grab a tasty Milk and Cereal Bar to enjoy on the way to school or on the bus. It’s the perfect back to school breakfast treat. I decided that in celebration of the back to school season I would have Capt’N Crunch Peanut Butter Milk and Cereal bars. So easy and delicious too.
First, you want to grease your dish, an 8×8 glass dish is ideal, but a metal pan works too.
Set your dish aside and melt your butter completely in a large stock pot. Next, add in your bag of marshmallows, stirring until completely melted.
Now add in the cereal for your milk and cereal bars. Stirring until completely mixed and all cereal is coated.
Pour the mixture into your greased pan and spread out until leveled.
Refrigerate until set. Make milk mixture and set aside until bars are cooled (about 1 hour).
Remove dish from fridge and cut into bars. Pour milk mixture over bars to desired amount. We let ours set and then wrapped in parchment paper to enjoy over several days.
- 1 10oz bag of marshmallow minis
- 1.25 sticks of butter
- 6 cups of Capt'N Crunch Peanut Butter Cereal
- Milk Mixture
- 1/4 cup of powdered milk
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup of water
- Use 1/4 stick of butter to grease glass 8x8 dish and then set aside.
- Melt over medium heat 1 stick of butter, stirring continuously.
- Add into melted butter the mini marshmallows, stirring continuously until melted completely.
- Mix in cereal and remove from heat, mix until all cereal is coated.
- Pour into greased pan and level out.
- Place in fridge for 1 hour to firm.
- Milk Mixture
- Mix powdered milk and powdered sugar.
- Add water 1 tbsp at a time and mix until consistency is desired.
While we make sure to have breakfast each morning, there are a lot of other things happening around the house at the same time. Often we are packing lunches for work, play dates or a day running errands. I try and grab lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but also chose some foods that are easy to eat on the go. While I was shopping at Walmart I made sure to pick up some Quaker Chewy Bars Chocolate Chip for everyone’s lunches, this is one we all enjoy. If you’re looking for great food ideas to make with Quaker products head over to their Pinterest and check it out (I love to add oats to my smoothies).
