I love to bake, it might even be one of my love languages. I try and limit them due to wanting to eat a well balanced diet, I’m sure there are a lot of you who have the same mind set. With Summer upon us, many of us will be heading out on vacation, toting the kids from activity to activity, attending family gatherings and sharing meals with friends.
I took advantage of a recent get together with family to get out and get moving. We spent the morning walking the outlet malls (shopping of course) and exploring the quaint little shops of downtown. I even went to my first 5 and Dime, there was so much to see and by the end of our exploring I was wiped out. It was the perfect way to get in a little exercise while enjoying the fresh air and company of family too. I think carrying those shopping bags and wearing my 1 year old in the carrier count for a little weight lifting too. This was the perfect activity to get us moving and was enjoyed by everyone of all ages.
Afterwards we had a delicious mini brunch with all of my favorite breakfast foods, including this SWEET SWAPS recipe from SPLENDA® for Cinnamon Coffee Cake. I remember my mom making coffee cake on special occasions when I was a kid. We loved to have have breakfast for dinner growing up and I think that’s why breakfast foods are still my favorite.
It was a special treat for me to get to cook for my family. So often they are the ones in the kitchen doing all the work. I really enjoyed making this tasty recipe to share. Knowing that I used SPLENDA® as my sweetner always makes me feel like I’m making a good cooking choice. This allows me to indulge in those delicious tasty meals and know that I am still following a balanced diet.
The recipe was super easy to make and I had most ingredients on hand, perfect if you need to make a last minute dish! I had never tried the SPLENDA® Brand Brown Sugar blend before and have to say I was very pleased with its tasty and how it worked in the recipe. You would never have guessed you were eating an alternative sweetener.
The only thing I would change about our amazing morning of walking/shopping together and brunch, make a bigger coffee cake! This one was a huge hit and was gobbled up so fast, there was none left for seconds. I’m pretty sure that everyone had a wonderful time and I shared this tasty SWEET SWAPS recipe with everyone so they can make their own at home to share. I imagine that there will be a few coffee cakes in this groups future.
