Let me ask you a question; what are your diaper bag essentials?
As a mom, you already know that your diaper bag is your everything when it comes to having kids. AS we are expecting baby #2 soon I’ve gone ahead and pre-packed my diaper bag before my daughter ever gets here so I won’t be left unprepared and stressed out. Being my second time around, I now know exactly what to pack and what to leave behind and lighten the load from.
Here is what I have packed and ready to go…
Diaper Bag– I love my pottery barn duffle diaper bags and actually have 2 of them. I use 1 for JDub when we travel now that he doesn’t need a full diaper bag and ordered a new one for the baby. They are full of pockets, have a wipeable lining and the leather bottom keeps the outside of the bag clean when I sit it everywhere.
Diaper changing pad – Because diaper changes happen EVERYWHERE I’m prepared with an easy to grab changing pad that can be layed down on the grass at the park, the back of my car or in a public restroom changing station.
Diapers– Obviously this is a key item to have a decent stash. I usually plan for 1 diaper an hour for however long we are going to be gone, plus a bonus diaper. I’m a big fan of Pampers swaddlers, Daddy loves that little line that changes colors, but I couldn’t pass up these adorable mermaid printed ones from The Honest Company.
Wipes– I’ve tried so many brands of wipes in the past 3 years that have with JDub, Pampers is hands down my favorite.
Diaper Rash Spray– My Pediatrician recommended Dr. Smith’s to me when we had our first diaper rash years ago. It is still my go to for diaper rashes or the first sign of redness. I love the spray because it goes on like the ointment but my hands stay completely clean! Bonus for me its a Texas brand so I feel good about supporting local.
Snacks– These are for me, as a nursing mom I need to have a few snacks on hand when I am out running around. Having healthy options helps me from picking up junk food when I get hungry.
Toys/Lovey– There is no need to pack every toy in the house, I usually stick with one toy and their lovey.
Hand cleaner– Because diapers! and the park and cooties are everywhere.
Water bottle– Nursing momma’s have to stay hydrated so I carry my own water bottle with me everywhere.
Phone– Staying connected with the world, but mainly so I have a camera and don’t miss a moment of baby cuteness.
Wallet– Essential to function and the days of carrying a purse are long gone.
Blanket– It versatile and will be used for everything. I love the light weight muslin ones that aren’t too hot in the Texas summers.
Change of clothes– A simple bodysuit and pants usually work for this one and can be used for those moments when you know accidents happen.
K’Tan carrier– This is my favorite carrier for little ones. It’s easy to pack into my bag and soft to wear. I carry it everywhere with me and it allows me to avoid having to take the care seat carrier in to the store or during an outing.
Binkies– We are a binkie loving family. JDub had his until he was 2. I like the brand and style that you get at the hospital.
