DIY Birthday Highchair Banner

This post may contain affiliate links.

In the spirit of party prepping I was starting to have crafting withdrawls. I decided that JDub’s highchair needed a little homemade decor. We plan to do a fun cake smash at home with just the family. You know this mamma, I need cuteness on everything. I searched Pinterest and Etsy for ideas and decided that a colorful diy birthday highchair banner  was the perfect project.

Supplies you need to make your Birthday Highchair Banner:

Variety of ribbons and trim (2 yards of each)

Jute twine

Burlap Pennant

Paint colors of choice

Small wide flat brush

Stapler

Scissors

Measure the jute twine to the desired length needed to secure on highchair. Find the center of twine and secure your burlap pennant by folding over the edge and securing with staples.

Next measure our your ribbons and trim to the desired length, I wanted mine to hang lower than the pennant. Find the center of the ribbons and secure around the twine with a simple knot.

You can put the ribbons in a patter or random order. I went with a pattern on both sides.

When you are finished attaching the ribbons and twine. Place a sheet of paper under your pennant, it is a wide weave and paint will go through it to the surface behind it. I used a simple brush to free hand our 1 in place. Next I used the end of a sponge brush to make the polka dots.

Thanks for sharing this! I could not find another site with a how to! Everything led to etsy and I did NOT want to pay $35-$40 for this when I know I can do it myself!

I love this DIY banner. Did you have a theme for your party or just a color scheme? I really like the pom pom ribbon.

Beautiful! And so much more practical than what I made my son for his first birthday. A crown. Which stayed on his head for .5 seconds! High chair banner is so much smarter! Thanks for linking up at Saucy Saturdays.

Any suggestions on how to secure the banner to the highchair? I made one and am trying to figure out how to hang it! Thanks!!
