Kid Friendly Breakfast- Egg in a Hole
One of my most favorite things about homeschooling and really just motherhood is teaching my kids life skills. While we do spend hours a day practicing our math, reading, writing and art appreciation, not to mention tons of outside play time, I absolutely love spending time in the kitchen with both of my kiddos. They both enjoy cooking and of course anytime there is a sweet spoon to be licked they are happy to oblige.
I try hard to balance the amount of baking, their favorite, with plenty of nutritious options that they enjoy as well. Since my kids are like most kids, they love bread. You heard that right, bread is an essential in our house. Whether we’re making sandwiches to go with us on a car ride or a kid friendly breakfast like Egg in a Hole, we like to use Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread. The kids love it because it features Disney’s Mickey Mouse on the packaging (and it tastes good). I love it because it has the Disney Check, a quick and easy way for kids and families to identify nutritious choices whether in stores, at live-event venues, online, on-air and at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. All foods featuring the Disney Check meet the company’s Nutrition Guidelines.
Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread is great for picky eaters, it’s delicious and so soft! Parents will love that it is plant based, USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, and provides a good source of vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin E. Oh and the coolest part, it’s sustainably baked using renewable wind energy (my kids love spotting those giant wind turbines).
Making an Egg in a Hole
This weekend Mary is helping me in the kitchen and we are using these adorable Disney Mickey cookie cutters for a fun spin on our Egg in a Hole breakfast. She is very hands on so she is going to be in charge of cutting out the shapes in the bread.
After she has prepared the Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread we are ready to get started. Spray your frying pan with a non stick spray ( or use a non stick pan). Place the bread slice in the pan over medium heat. Next crack an egg in the center of the bread, season as desired. Allow the egg to cook fully and then serve with a side of fresh fruit and bacon. Wait till you see the smiles on the kids faces at the breakfast table.
