Shopping for a baby is about the best thing in the world. I LOVE to pick out all the sweet little goodies they will need. Even buying diapers and wipes can be fun. The smell of baby soap, oh my! I’ll admit my favorite thing to buy is the clothes, I love all the precious tiny and soft clothes that will soon snuggle a sweet baby. When it comes to shopping for clothes I tend to go a little crazy. I’m pretty sure that we had clothes that JDub out grew before he ever got to wear them. It’s really just too easy to buy them!
There are a few essentials that as a new parent you are going to want to have on hand for sure. is so great for because they have everything and I love their gender neutrals for shopping early before you know the gender of the baby. The first thing that you HAVE to have is bodysuits. Baby will wear these every day, sometimes several a day.
My next favorite essential and my little guy still wears these at 2 years old, Babysoft pants. These are so perfect for lounging around the house, or even a day out running errands. I love how soft they are and if he falls asleep in them I know he is completely comfortable.
I liked dressing my baby in layers, so outfits that have Babysoft pants, bodysuits and a light long sleeve are great. We live in Texas and while it’s hot outside in the summers and a bodysuit is perfect, we keep the house cool and the light jacket is perfect.
When it comes to bed time and new babies the adorable jammy options are pretty much endless. I will tell you that snaps at 3 am can be a little challenging in low light. For those first few months Layettes are the way to go! You want to be able to negotiate diaper changes like a pro and minimize the amount of jostling required.
Don’t forget the little things when you are building babies first wardrobe, booties, socks, bibs and mittens. Sock and booties were are everyday wear in our house, remember we keep in cold in the Summers. Mittens were great for the first few weeks until we got the hand of trimming baby fingers nails. Bibs are going to be essential for all the drooling and VERY important once food starts being introduced. Really you can’t have enough bibs so stock up now.
