As we walked into the OB office on Christmas Eve I was giddy. I mean really giddy, I could hardly contain my excitement. The BIG day was here, the gender reveal. We were about to find out not only the gender of our sweet baby but also make sure that physically baby was growing properly and everything was well. There was a moment were all I was focused on was finding out the gender. The physical stuff was important, but I knew that God’s in control and that it was all going to work out the way He planned for us. The Mister and I get pulled back into a sonogram room pretty quickly, which was good because I was about to pee my pants both literally and figuratively. he actually told me I needed to chill out a little. How could he be so calm and collected?! The Sonographer gets started and shows all of baby’s parts, takes measurements and then at the end says, ” It’s a Boy!”
So you see, we both won. In the elevator ride to the Dr’s office I asked The Mister what his final guess was, we both said boy. I am beyond excited to get to be a Boy Momma. I can’t wait to tell him all about Jesus, to play with match box cars and wash of the remanet of an afternoon in the mud.
The Mister had to work the holidays so we sent his dad a series of text messages. Grandpa is excited for sure. I flew home just a few hours after our appointment to spend the holiday with my parents, brothers and their families. I surprised them on Christmas morning with a box full of balloons. Our little guy will be the 3rd grandson, which means I have a sister-in-law who already knows what she is doing! The perfect person to gleen info from.
For all you Boy Mommas, I’m ready for that piece of advice you wish someone had given you. Share away!

Buy YOURSELF a helmet. You’ll need to protect yourself from the wayward footballs, basketballs, golf balls and tennis balls.
Don’t get attached to your pretty vases and picture frames on the mantel. They’ll be broken before you know it. (See above.)
Your house was MEANT to be lived in. My house is a 24hr/365 day roller rink, a race car track, a baseball field, golf course and tennis court.
Your bathroom will NEVER smell fresh and clean EVER AGAIN. It doesn’t matter how often you clean it. Boys just can’t aim!!! So, don’t sweat it. Boy Mommas understand!

Lani this is so awesome! Our gender story had a funny hiccup that left me really knowing how badly I wanted to be a Boy Mom, and it’s been amazing ever since.
He will love you like a princess, no matter what. He’ll save you from monsters and make his daddy give you kisses. He’ll play with your hair as he falls asleep and likely ask you for “baby brudders” haha
He will amaze you, both by what he will learn and what he’ll teach you about yourself.
As for advice.. Work on your ninja/superhero/good guy/bad guy routine now.
He’ll need a fighting partner sooner than you think 🙂
I’m so excited for you!
