The N.E.W.S., it’s a fun way that my husband educates his patients about healthy habits for wellness. Nutrition, Exercise, Water and Sleep, these are the 4 things that he feels are the most important for healthy living. You’d better believe that he practices what he teaches. At home these are concepts that are majorly embraced.
Nutrition, healthy foods, cleaning eating; you hear it phrased so many ways. The bottom line is eating a balanced and nutritious diet is key to all the other concepts. I like to stock the kitchen with lots of fruits and veggies and plan quick, easy and super healthy dinners at home. Post work-out I like to grab something easy, right now I’m hooked on Wendy’s Apple Pecan Chicken Salad with cranberries and Marzetti® Simply Dressed®Pomegranate Vinaigrette. I usually bring it home and mix up a delicious Tropical smoothie to complete the meal. Wendy’s salads are prepared fresh in their restaurants every day. They’re so confident that you’ll love their process they made a fun YouTube video to show you.
I exercise daily, sometimes at home on the elliptical while my little naps and other days we hit the trails with either the jogging stroller or baby carrier. The little guy loves to be outside so this one is easy. Recently we’ve started the use the bike trailer more now that he is a little older. It’s a great way to spend time as a family, get a little exercise and enjoy the fresh air.
Water. This is the one I really struggle with. I have my favorite water bottle that I carry around with me all day. I even have a cute monogram decal on it. My goal is to drink 2 bottles through out the day and 1 more while I’m working out. I find that the bottle really helps me keep up with how much I’ve had and obtain my daily goal.
Sleep, oh sleep. As a fairly new parent this one is touch or go for me. We are starting to sleep through the night and that helps me function well through out the day and stay well. The Mister is really good about getting to bed early, 8 hours of quality sleep is important. I like to sneak in an afternoon nap while the little one sleeps too.

I love tropical flavors – do you think this would be good for kids? Sometimes they don’t want to eat, only drink.

I LOVE using organic extracts to make different smoothie flavors and iced coffee treats. I always use stevia instead of sugar.

That smoothie looks really good! We’ve been adding a lot more vegetables to our meals, and I’m starting to drink protein smoothies in the mornings, made with lots of fruit.
