I’ve always loved to read. Even as a child reading was one of my favorite activities. I still remember those reading incentive programs in the 5th grade where you would read a certain library book and then sit at the computer in the library and test a quiz over the book. If you passed the quiz you accumulated points you could cash in for prizes. Everything from a candy bar to a no homework pass. I remember that year I read the entire Nancy Drew series from start to finish.
When I was a new mom and had those middle of the night nursing sessions with my newborn I adapted to reading books on my iPad in dark mode- checking out books from my local library or purchasing through kindle reader. When the second baby came I learned how to practically sleep through those middle of the night feedings.
Wrangling two awesome kids, a household, a blog, my job as a nurse and all the other hats I wear made finding time to read difficult for me. I tried right before bed but I didn’t get very far. Don’t get me wrong I still do this most nights and I love have a paper book in my hands.
Lately I find the best way to get through a book is to listen to it. Yep I’ve become a fan of audiobooks. They’ve always been great for long car rides. But now I can listen while I do the dishes or fold laundry. Our Amazon echo is right there in the kitchen making it so easy!
