How to Throw a Backyard Glamping Party
Everyone loves a camping trip. The Mister and I have done a lot of camping, and love to camp along the water while canoeing a favorite river. Since John came along there hasn’t been much roughing it for us and most of our trips involve comfy hotel rooms. I decided that there has to be a way to bring the fun of camping and the comfort and luxury of a hotel together. Glamping, maybe you’ve heard of it, it’s glamorous camping. So to try it out we decided to have a little party.
Why not turn my simple and plan backyard into a glamorous and fun camping party, a glamping party. Complete with delicious food, hot chocolate of course and a tasty dessert perfect for a glamping trip.
Here is the blank canvas I had to work with. Those awesome trees are going to come in handy for the amazing lights that are coming! Here is what you need for a amazing glamping party. A tent is a must have for sure, I used this adorable kids teepee as a center piece. LOTS of pillows, glamping is not possible without comfort, so the more pillows you have the better. A plush quilt to put down will help keep your glamping time from being ruined by grass stains. Lights, decorations, and a few wooden crates help make the area even more glamorous.
So how did I bring it all together…
Now that you know how to rock the decorations and turn an ordinary back yard into a glamping party, let’s talk about food. Food should be fun, delicious and not stressful. Since we were glamping in our backyard it seemed like a great time to put the grill to use. A family favorite is pizza, so that seemed like the perfect food to serve. If you’ve never cooked pizza on the grill it’s pretty easy and super tasty!
- Preheat grill on high for at least 5 minutes
- Remove pizza from carton and clear discard plastic film
- Place a double layer of aluminum foil on center of grill
- Place pizza on foil in center of grill
- Turn grill to low and cook for 13 to 16 minutes with lid closed
- Let pizza stand 2 minutes before serving
You are going to love the pizza cooked on the grill! Perfect to serve with your grilled pizza is a simple but delicious fruit kabobs. The kids will love these and they are so easy to make you are going to love them too.
All you need to gather is a variety of your favorite fruits. We are big fruit eaters in our house so I had all of our favorites on hand, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and pinapple. O even threw some grapes in there for fun. Using a 10″ skewer thread each piece of fruit onto the skewers until they are full.
For dessert I went with another grill recipe, S’mores dip. I used all of the classic ingredients for s’mores, Honey Maid Graham crackers, Kraft Marshmallows and Hershey’s bars. Using my cast iron skillet (which I love) I broke up the chocolate bars in the bottom and then layered marshmallows over the top. Place in the grill on low for 2 minutes then remove and serve with graham crackers!
No glamping party would be complete without a fun treat bar. Hot chocolate is the perfect drink for camping and with add ins make it very glamorous.
