The Mister and I have always enjoyed traveling. When we decided to grow our family by adding a little one, we really didn’t see anything changing. We knew there would be some changes to the types of trips we took but we still planned to be a jetsetting family.
We took our first family vacation when JDub was only 2.5 months old (before my FMLA was up). We packed up our new little family (and most of our house), grabbed the grandparents and headed off to Mexico for a long weekend. It was wonderful and it was crazy! The grandparents were amazing and kept Dub every morning so that The Mister and I could scuba diving, then we spent afternoons and evenings together hanging out on the beach. We couldn’t have done it with out those awesome grandparents.
We took lots of weekend trips to our hometown and JDub and I took a few adventures, but it was awhile before our next big family vacation. Last Fall I was invited to attend an amazing event at Beaches Resorts in Turks & Caicos. Once again we packed up our little family plus half the house and headed for the airport. That was the moment we decided that our way of vacationing had changed forever. Once your kids reach toddlerhood, the level of entertainment needed is completely different. They want to run, play, climb, explore and dance {JDub loves to dance}. Hanging out at a regular beach resort was not going to give us what he needed.
Beaches Resort had every thing a kid could want, big kids too.
Camp Sesame: Not your usual kid care. JDub doesn’t go to day care at home, so we weren’t sure how this would go. HE LOVED IT! We decided to test it out and went to visit. Within minutes he was playing with all of the toys, sitting in the cool chairs that were just his size and could have cared less that we were even there. They have an amazing facility and the care givers are awesome. They provide you a cell phone to carry so that they can reach you if there are any issues. One day during Camp Sesame, JDub and his friends got to bake cookies with Cookie Monster. That is pretty much the coolest thing ever!
Elmo’s Birthday Party: Several times a week you can celebrate Elmo’s birthday. Enjoy dancing, singing, cake and pictures with Elmo and his buddy Cookie Monster. JDub really got his dance moves going while we partied.
Games: The resort was complete with a basketball court and a shuffle board. We spent many afternoons on that basket ball court.
Train: My guy is currently obsessed with trains and while we were at Beaches he enjoyed the train rides as much as possible! The train ride went around the entire resort and he loved waving to everyone he passed.
Pools: So many amazing pools, one had a great waterfall feature that you could swim inside of. Of course there was also the waterpark area of the resort with slides and a lazy river.
Beaches also offered an Xbox lounge and a live DJ in their dance club for the older kids.

SO fun! We have always taken our boys on vacations from the time they could toddle.. but we’ve yet to check out a Beaches resort. We do tend to bring at least grandparent along on every trip though. My kids love spending time with their whole family on vacation.

I definitely saw the allure of resort vacations when my kids were in the toddler phase. It’s a great way to go. Thanks for linking up at #SaucySaturdays.
