Natural Bug Spray with Essential Oils

This post may contain affiliate links.

No one wants to put unnecessary chemicals on their body, and especially not on their children. You want your bug spray to work but may not want to use ones containing so many ingredients you aren’t familiar with. Why not make your own natural bug spray using only essential oils and water?
Natural Bug Spray with Essential Oils // Life Anchored #YLEO

I prefer to use Young Living essential oils for their pure properties (more on that here). All of the oils you will need to make you natural bug spray come in the Everyday Oils premium starter kit. The glass spray bottle I am using for this project also came with my premium starter kit.

To make your natural bug spray add the following into your 2oz. glass spray bottle:

12 drops of Purification oz

8 drops of Peppermint

6 drops of Lavender

4 drops of Thieves

Once all of your oils are combined in the bottle, fill the rest of the way with water. Screw on top and shake. Make sure you shake you mixture before each use.

It really works – I added a little witch hazel to my recipe. Love my oils!!

I’ve read that can help with it lasting longer. I’ve just been spraying it every few hours. Next batch I’ll try the witch hazel.

I’ve been looking for a natural bug spray. We live 5 minutes from a lake, and it’s mosquito season. Can’t wait to try this! Would love for you to share at the #OhMyHeartsieGirlWW party going on right now at my blog! I pin, tweet and share! Have a great week! Hope to see you there!

So I just ordered my first Essential Oils and got the order two days ago. Four oils to be exact. Guess what four? And I didn’t know about this combo as a bug spray! You can bet I am pinning this and using it. Found you at the #FridayFlash blog hop. Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes I’m so happy I found this! I cannot stand the chemical-laden bug sprays that are everywhere. Thanks for sharing! I can smell good and keep the bugs away this summer. 🙂

What a great idea! Regular bug sprays smell awful, so this is a great alternative.

By the way, I’d like to invite you to post on my new blog hop that is open all weekend, if you’re interested.

What a wonderful idea, I hate to think what we are rubbing into the skin of ourselves and much worse young children. Thanks for bringing this idea to #HomeMattersParty

[…] 9. Use essential oils mixed with water to create a bug spray that really works. I used this recipe all summer on myself and kids and we have been blissfully mosquito-bite and tick free! The smell of the spray is also so much more pleasant than choking on the fumes of commercial bug spray. Check out Life Anchored’s recipe here. […]
