Three weeks ago we started down the road to potty training and there was no looking back. We were on a bit of a time table, it was our goal to get it done over the summer before JDub started in the 3 year old class at school in September. We also didn’t want to start too soon after Mary came home from the NICU. We had heard that if you potty train before a new sibling arrives there is frequently a bit of a regression. We wanted to time this just right. We spent some time talking about it with him and discussing how it all works. Then we set the timer on the microwave and in regular intervals took him to sit on his potty. Each day things got better and easier and he got the hang of it more and more. After the first week we ventured out of the house more and started back to our regular activities. Now we are in big boy underwear all day during awake hours and just in the past few days does not need a reminder to go, but tells me when he needs to instead.
Potty training can be messy especially with boys, can you say learning to aim? To help make things easier and know that the area is clean I made sure to pick up a large packet of Viva paper towels and Clorox spray cleaner before we got started. Visit your local Walmart and pick up your own Clean Squad of Viva® Vantage® Paper Towels and Clorox® Cleanup Cleaner + Bleach cleaning spray!
