This year JDub is going to be headed off to Pre-K and I know he is going to love every minute of it! So much painting, reading and hello, playground time! As teh beginning of school approaches I am busy figuring out supplies, lunch boxes and labeling everything he owns. Since he is Pre-K this year we are able to pay a annual supply fee rather than searching the aisles of crayons and construction paper. I know that when he reaches Kindergarten the list will be a mile long and even then his teachers won’t always have what they need in their classrooms. It seems to be a growing trend that teachers are more and more spending their own money to adequately supply their classrooms. I know several of my friends that are teachers hunt the end of the back to school sales stocking up on 10¢ crayons.
You know there is a way that you can give back to your schools, help your teachers and it doesn’t even take that much effort! Walmart and General Mills have teamed up to bring you 5 for 1 Box Tops for Education! You buy your favorite General Mills products (hello, Lucky Charms), clip the Box Top for Education label off the package and hand them into you child’s school! You can find box tops on tons of products, everything from your favorite cereals to easy meals.
Since you are going to be stocking up on those favorite cereals for the box tops, I thought I would share with you a fun after school snack, Cereal milkshakes!
- Lucky Charms Cereal - sort marshmellows and cereal into seperate bowls.
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- Frozen whipped topping
- Take 1/2 c. of cereal with marshmallows removed and crush.
- In a blender, add milk, ice cream and crushed cereal and mix.
- Pour into a tall glass and top with frozen whipped topping.
- Cover top in cereal marshmallows.
- Enjoy!

I always looked forward to getting new notebooks– I liked how they were so crisp and clean. It was like a literal “fresh start” to a new school year. I also liked picking out a new day-planner, which is actually something that I need to buy for myself now! (My previous one ended in July.)
