SeaWorld with Kids + The Wave Breaker

It’s been at least 10 years since I braved a roller coaster. I use to love them and was fearless at amusement park rides. I’d ride even the craziest ones until I was sick. That seems like so long ago it’s hard to remember. I can’t wait until the littles are tall enough for coasters and we can all ride together.

This week I was invited to SeaWorld San Antonio for the debut of their brand new coaster, The Wave Breaker. The roller coaster has an animal rescue theme and gives the impression that you are riding a jet ski over the water. The cars have both a lap bar and handles that have you leaning forward as if you were on an actual jet ski. There are several twists and turns, and a second launch that really gets the speed up (44mph). While you are racing over the water, this is not a water ride and you will not get wet.

I really enjoyed the coaster and was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the entire ride was. I foresee this being a huge hit this Summer! So get there early to avoid the lines. In case you don’t get there early the line waiting area is shaded.

I will definitely make sure to ride The Wave Breaker again on our next trip to SeaWorld San Antonio.

Plan on visiting SeaWorld soon? Here are a few other things we learned that are worth passing on! If you are planning to visit with kids there are a few things you should remember.

Bring change: There are quarter machines to purchase food for the ducks near the flamingo pond. Around the park you will also find several penny press machines. I loved these as a kid and still have some of my favorites tucked away. You need two quarters and a penny for the penny press machines.

Water Shoes: The Bay of Play is an amazing kids play area and you’re kid isn’t going to pass it up. There is a huge splash pad with water features and right along side of it a multi story rope and tunnel playscape. Kids will want to go from one to the other and you for sure want shoes on for that ropes course. Water shoes allow kids to play freely.

Pack snacks: if your kids are anything like mine, they eat NON STOP. To avoid spending the entire day in line for food, we made sure to have several easy and non messy snacks at the ready. We also packed each of us a large water bottle, it’s hot and hydration is important.

Go to the shows: everyone will welcome the break from walking, sitting in either the shade or the air conditioning oh! and did I mention the shows are awesome! We took in the Shamu Celebration show and Pets Ahoy!

Disclosure: My family and I were invited to ride Wave Breaker on Media Day.  I was not compensated for this article. All opinions are my own.
