Every evening after J goes to bed I spend a few minutes getting ready for the next day. Summer is such a fun time of the year and we have been staying busy soaking up the sun, splashing in the pools and exploring everything our fun city has to offer. There are tons of free offerings all Summer long so we have been staying busy. Each night I pack our bag, swim suits, tons of snacks and any gear we may need for our adventures.
Since mornings are often rushed it’s nice to know that everything is ready to grab as we head for the door. I don’t want us to leave the house without a nutritious breakfast, since we love smoothies this is the perfect of the go for us. J loves milk, I make sure to include a 8 oz. serving in his smoothie. In addition to being a good source of high-quality protein, milk offers eight other essential nutrients, including calcium, vitamin D and potassium, which are three of the four nutrients most Americans – including children – are most likely missing in their diets.
- ½ cup Milk
- ¾ cup frozen banana
- ¾ cup frozen strawberries
- 2 tbsp Nutella
- ⅓ cup Oatmeal
- Blend together and Enjoy!!
Unfortunately during the Summer months, more than 22 million children may miss out on milk’s nutrition this summer when they lose access to free or reduced-price meal programs at school. You can help a child in your community by donating to the The Great American Milk Drive. A donation as little as $5 can deliver a highly desired and nutrient-rich gallon of fresh milk to children who need it most. Deliver a gallon of nutrient-rich milk and help to ensure that all children have the potential to play, learn and grow.
