Registering was one thing I so excited about as an expectant mom. While a little stressful it was super fun and I loved getting all that advice about everything I needed from friends and family. To make life a little easier for you I’ve put together the 35 baby registry must haves that you will be happy to have on hand when that little one arrives.
One of the first things we did when J was born was subscribe to Amazon Prime. A quick trip to the store was a lot more work and some days I just didn’t have the energy for it. Amazon Prime allowed me to have anything I needed on my door step in roughly 2 days!
Amazon Mom is super convenient, It’s Amazon prime (free 2 day shipping and streaming of movies/songs), plus a 20% off coupon for diaper subscriptions AND 15% off your remaining registry items. You can schedule the delivery for items such as diapers, baby food, formula and more. No late night runs to the store for items you forgot. They will arrive regularly and all you have to do is change preferences such as diaper sizes when the time comes.
Personal Care/Hygiene
Mustela® Mon Petit Bebe Set– Including 5 of the top newborn skincare essentials and the bestselling book, Bringing Up Bebé (a personal favorite). The set includes Dermo-soothing wipes for the diaper area, PhysiObébé a no-rinse cleansing fluid, 2-1 Hair and Body Wash, Hydra Bébé Body Lotion and Facial Cleansing cloths.
Diapers– Whether you are using disposable or cloth, everyone loves to buy diapers. Make sure to add several sizes on to your registry to plan ahead. Some babies never wear newborns sizes or may only need them for a few weeks.
Dapple Pacifier Wipes– Pacifier will be spit out and before you know it, it’s on the ground. Maybe it found its way to the bottle of your purse. These easy to use pacifier wipes can be packed in any bag and will give you peace of mind before giving that pacifier back to baby.
Diaper Wipes– You really can not have enough diaper wipes, you will soon be using them for everything. Putting them on your registry allows shoppers to know which brand you prefer.
Nasal Aspirator– I went with an electric aspirator, it’s the fast and most efficient way to do a task that no one enjoys. I use Boogie Wipes saline spray to help clear his nose before using the aspirator.
Dapple Cleaning Wipes– Clean toys and nursery surfaces with wipes that are free of harmful chemicals.
Zarbees Natural Baby Products– Everything from Multivitamin with iron to Vitamin D drops and natural baby cough remedy (.2 months and older). We keep a supply on hand for when those pesky cough and colds creepy up on us. I feel good about using these products because they are made with natural ingredients that are safe for little ones.
Dr. Smith’s Diaper Spray-It’s going to happen, every baby gets a diaper rash eventually. We love Dr. Smith’s Diaper Spray for how easy it is to use (no dirty fingers). Formulated to go on and cover the effected area without having to be rubbed in or dripping. I like to apply at the first sign of redness and avoid the diaper rash all together. Not sure about the spray, their ointment is awesome too!
Humidifier– Great for those nights when baby has congestion.
Bathtub– So many options, Keep it simple with this sink insert or go full baby bathtub this a tub that can go both in the bath or on the counter.
Pacifiers– From day one this was a must for us, with tons of options I found that Avent Soothe Pacifiers were out favorite.
Wabanub– Unsure about a pacifier clip that tethers to the shirt, Wabanubs is a great alternative. Keep the pacifier in place and provide an easy to find cuddly friend.
Nursery/Baby
Muslin Blankets– We used these for everything, great for swaddling, in prompt to nursing or carrier cover. They are 100% cotton and light weight, making them very breathable and easy to pack in the diaper bag.
Clothes– Who doesn’t love to oh and ah over precious tiny baby clothes. Think ahead and registry for sizes beyond 0-3 months. Also make sure that the size match up with the seasons and the clothing will be temperature appropriate.
Video Monitor– Ease you mind and sleep well knowing that baby is resting peacefully in their bed. VTech VM343 Safe and Sound Monitor allows you to scan the entire room, has night vision abilities as well as temperature alarms and can be linked to multiple cameras.
Simply Secure Swaddle– Designed with help from pediatricians and nurses, this sleep swaddler is easy to use in just 3 easy steps and baby will sleep warm and secure all night long.
Waterproof Mattress Cover– When J was little I would double layer his bed, waterproof cover, crib sheet, waterproof cover and crib sheet. This way if a diaper leaked or he was sick in the night, I wasn’t remaking a bed at 2 am. Strip off a layer and toss in the wash for morning.
Crib– Baby will need s spot for bedtime so chose a crib that appeals to your personal style. Look for cribs with convertible options so that you can use it as a toddler bed and even beyond as well.
Crib Sheets– This one is easy, you have to have them. It’s a great way to add a pop of color or pattern to your nursery as well. See my bedding tip below.
Blankets– I loved having soft blankets to lay down on the floor while we played or baby explored. Later these are great for bed time.
Sound machine– Soothe little one to sleep with calming sounds from the ocean, rain or even white noise.
Home
Convertible high chair– The Abiie Junior Y highchair can be used form 5 months on. Easy to store and convert as your child grows to accommodate.
Tiny Love 3-1 Rocker Napper– Perfect for nap time, this rocker has 3 reclining positions and raised boarders so baby can sleep safe and secure any where in the house with you.Did I mention that I love the grey and turquoise color pattern?!
Glider– A comfy place to cuddle, rock and feed baby. It will be a must for those late nights. Make sure when you are shopping that you keep in mind that some chair will have exposed gliders and those are a good spot for fingers to get pinched. Look for a chair that the mechanism is under the chair and out of reach.
On the Go
Chewbeads Necklace– Stylish on mom and functional too. These beautiful necklaces are great to keep baby focused while feeding and a hit when teething comes around too.
Diaper bag- Look for a bag that is going to be functional and something you like. Some of my favorites are the Skip Hop Duo Special Edition, the Pottery Barn Gray Breton Stripe Harper Diaper tote and the Pottery Barn classic grey diaper bag (I actually have two of these, one is my travel bag!)
Diaper Clutch– For those times when you don’t want to lug the entire diaper bag and just need to have a few diapers and wipes on hand with a clean surface to change.
Jogging Stroller– To eliminate multiple strollers consider choosing a stroller that will work with your infant car seat as well.
First Aid kit– This is going to include little things like your nail files and clippers, though I liked the nail scissors for the first few months. It will also have items to help administer medications and some combs and brushes for hair.
Baby Carrier- I used two carriers for different ages. Baby K’tan was a life saver when he was little and liked to snuggled close. Ergo is amazing for kiddos once they reach about 20 lbs. Once they are sitting up and supporting themselves well you can switch to a back carry so that baby has even more visibility. When using a baby carrier make sure that you know babywearing safety.
Portable Crib– Whether you are planning a lot of traveling or just the occasional over at grandparents, a portable crib is a must. We set our up downstairs in our living room which made life easier while I recovered from my c-section.
Car Seat-Any car seat that you can buy in a store meets the minimum safety guidelines. It comes down to preference and budget.
Carrier Cover– Fend off unwanted touches by strangers and keep baby comfortable and calm while sleeping. Bonus it doubles as a nursing cover and shopping cart cover.
There it is, my 35 top baby registry must haves that you will use over and over. Now you can register with less stress and more excitement.
