Wild West Cowboy Sensory Bin
I wanted to continue along the theme of our sensory bins and show another kid favorite. This is our Wild West Cowboy Sensory Bin set up, this theme was so popular we left it put together for an entire week while we completed out unit study on the Wild West and Cowboys. Keep in mind that some of these items are small and can be a choking hazard make sure that small children are closely supervised when participating in this activity. To make your own Wild West Cowboy sensory bin you will need to gather the following items.
Plastic Bin (we use the same one for all of our bins and I love that it has an easy to attach lid so we can maintain our bin for several days)
2 lb. bag of dried pinto beans
Plastic Wild West Cowboy figurines
This sensory bin kept the kids playing for days and we incorporated into our cowboy themed week of school complete with imaginative play of cowboys and horses. Throughout the week we added in other great cowboy themed activities including making our own horses and of course dressing up as cowboys. The kids did various races on their horses all around the living room! Not to mention posing for “mugshots” for their Wanted posters. This unit study naturally led into a study on the desert and the animals and creatures that live there. So many great activities and of course since we live in Texas there are plenty of great opportunities to learn about the cowboys that once lived and worked in the area we now live in. So many great field trip ideas are right here in our own city.
